UAE, 05 March, 2024 : The United Arab Emirates actively participated in the first G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under Brazil’s presidency held in São Paulo on February 28 and 29. Led by Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, the UAE delegation engaged in productive bilateral discussions with key partners including South Africa, Germany, and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
During the meeting, Al Hussaini underscored the UAE's dedication to climate financing and sustainable development, aligning with Brazil's overarching theme of reducing hunger, poverty, and inequality. The UAE expressed its readiness to share its expertise with Brazil, particularly in preparation for COP30 in 2025, and emphasized the importance of fostering international partnerships.
Key topics addressed during the meeting included the UAE's commitment to financial inclusion, multilateral cooperation, and support for OECD initiatives on taxation. Discussions also encompassed global economic outlooks, the potential impact of artificial intelligence on employment, and initiatives for enhanced international tax cooperation.
The UAE's active participation in the G20 reflects its ongoing engagement in global economic forums, aimed at fostering collaboration and addressing critical challenges on the international stage.
