Bahrain, 19 March, 2024 : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) conducted 2115 inspection visits across Bahrain's governorates in 2023 to safeguard consumer rights and enforce regulations in commercial establishments.
Inspections covered sectors like education, construction, manufacturing, real estate, retail, and healthcare. Violations related to VAT invoice issuance, inclusive pricing, and displaying VAT certificates were among the reported 244 violations, leading to administrative fines under VAT & Excise Law.
Efforts to combat excise evasion included 539 visits focusing on the Digital Stamp Scheme for tobacco products. Using advanced tools and digital techniques, 53 violations were reported. Suspicious VAT and excise evasion cases prompted legal actions, potentially resulting in imprisonment and fines.
NBR continues inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with legislation and prevent violations, reinforcing the implementation stages.
