Bahrain's February 2024 Trade: Exports Surge, Imports Rise

Bahrain, 20 March, 2024 : Bahrain's exports of national products surged by 17% to BD336 million ($892 million) in February 2024, with the top 10 countries accounting for 74% of the total value. Saudi Arabia led the list with BD93 million (28%), followed by the UAE at BD43 million (13%), and the US at BD31 million (9%).

Unwrought aluminium alloys were the primary export, totaling BD92 million (27%), followed by agglomerated iron ores at BD70 million (21%), and processed cheese at BD16 million (5%).

Re-exports reached BD63.07 million, with the UAE leading at BD18 million (29%), followed by Saudi Arabia at BD14 million (23%), and France at BD5 million (7%).

Imports rose by 9% to BD475 million, with China leading at BD67 million (14%), followed by Brazil at BD46 million (10%), and the UAE at BD40 million (8%).

Non-agglomerated iron ores topped imports at BD58 million (12%), followed by aircraft engine parts at BD38 million (8%), and aluminium oxide at BD22 million (5%).

The trade deficit amounted to BD75 million in February 2024, compared to BD85 million in February 2023.
