The Trade for Development platform offers technical assistance to trade officials and policymakers from developing nations, aiding them in navigating complex trade negotiations. Lack of resources and expertise often hinders countries' effective participation in the global economy.
The platform provides online courses and resources covering key aspects of trade agreements, enabling officials to enhance their understanding and negotiation skills. Kenya’s enrollment reflects the growing trade ties between the two countries, with bilateral non-oil trade reaching US$3.1 billion in 2023.
Kenya is the ninth country to access the platform, joining others invited during its launch at the WTO conference. These countries include Ethiopia, Mozambique, Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Comoros, Kyrgyzstan, and Barbados.
