Oman, 29 May, 2024 : Oman’s e-commerce sector reached a value of $2.2 billion last year, as revealed at the inaugural Oman E-Commerce Forum on Monday. The market is divided into five key sectors: electronics and media (32.9%), food and personal care (25%), fashion (22.2%), furniture and home appliances (13.3%), and games, hobbies, and crafts (6.6%).
H.E. Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry, emphasized the crucial role of e-commerce in the modern economy. “E-commerce strengthens economic and cultural ties between nations and supports sustainable development,” he stated, noting its impact on expanding global market access, boosting trade and investment, stimulating innovation, and promoting cultural exchanges.
Azza bint Ibrahim al Kindi, Director of Commercial Affairs and e-Commerce at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), reported that 46% of the initiatives from the National E-Commerce Plan were completed by the end of 2023.
