KSA, 3 June, 2024 : The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) will start accepting Temporary Admission Carnets (ATA Carnets) at all customs, land, marine, and air ports, aligning with Saudi Arabia's commitment to the Convention on Temporary Admission (Istanbul Convention). This move aims to support the business sector and enhance Saudi Arabia's position as a global hub for events and exhibitions.
ZATCA's approval of ATA Carnets is seen as a positive step towards boosting the events, exhibitions, and international conferences sector. It supports efforts to attract global conferences and exhibitions, addressing challenges with best global practices. This initiative enhances Saudi Arabia's status as an international destination for economic, tourist, and entertainment events, while facilitating trade and customs procedures by reducing requirements through an internationally recognized customs document.
The ATA Carnet allows temporary admission of goods for display or use at events, professional equipment, packaging materials, samples, and goods for educational, scientific, or cultural purposes. ZATCA has designated the Council of Saudi Chambers as the guarantor for ATA Carnets in the Kingdom. This enables beneficiaries to perform temporary admission of goods without providing a financial guarantee.
ATA Carnet is an international customs document used in about 80 countries to clear customs without a financial guarantee.
