Qatar Sees Significant Increase in April Inbound Visitors, Property Transactions Decline

Qatar, 6 June, 2024 : In April 2024, Qatar experienced a notable surge in inbound visitors, with numbers reaching approximately 382 thousand. This marks a substantial 17.9% increase compared to April 2023, and a monthly rise of 16.3% from March 2024.

The majority of visitors, accounting for 42%, hailed from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Air travel emerged as the preferred mode of arrival, constituting 55% of the total visitor count.

Meanwhile, property transactions saw a decline in both total number and values sold, dropping by 25.0% and 15.9%, respectively, compared to March 2024. Building permits experienced a similar trend, with a 37.6% monthly decrease but a 21.7% annual increase in April 2024.

The month witnessed the registration of 7011 new vehicles, reflecting a 10.5% monthly decrease yet a 2.9% yearly increase. Traffic accidents decreased by 5.2% from the previous month, with light injuries comprising the majority (93%) of cases.

Vital statistics indicated 2496 live births and 221 deaths recorded in April 2024, with a notable 17.7% increase in Qatari live births compared to the previous month. Marriage contracts saw a monthly uptick of 1.9%, while divorce certificates decreased by 13.7%.

Furthermore, the total net tonnage of vessels experienced a monthly decrease of 29.9% compared to the previous month.

In the social security sector, statements amounted to QR 78 million, benefiting 14,407 individuals, with a slight monthly increase in value and number of beneficiaries.

In the banking sector, total broad money supply (M2) stood at QR 736 billion in April 2024, reflecting a 5.7% annual increase. Cash equivalents, including commercial bank deposits, reached QR 1025 billion, marking a 6.3% annual rise compared to April 2023.
