KSA, 8 July, 2024 : The National Center for Non-Profit Sector has reported notable growth in Saudi Arabia's non-profit sector in the first half of 2024. During this period, 46 new civil associations, five civil institutions, and ten family funds were registered, bringing the total number of non-profit organizations to 4,942. Volunteer numbers have also surged, reaching 105,000 individuals.
The center commended stakeholders for their efforts during the 1445 AH Hajj season, working with the Hajj and Umrah organization to facilitate rituals for nearly two million pilgrims. The center also collaborated with the Siqaya and Rifadah committees, approving over 70 non-profit organizations to provide water and food services to pilgrims.
In its regulatory role, the center took actions against non-compliant organizations, issuing warnings, dissolving boards, appointing temporary boards, revoking licenses, and penalizing improper fundraising practices. Last month, 11 social media influencers were referred to authorities for promoting donations without proper disclosure.
The center reaffirmed its commitment to transparent oversight of donation collection and disbursement, urging compliance with regulations. It encourages collaborative efforts to foster sector growth and amplify its social and economic impact, aligning with Saudi Arabia's national goals.
