Egypt and UAE Boost Agricultural Investment Cooperation

UAE, 18 July, 2024 : Egypt's Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, met with UAE Ambassador to Cairo, Mariam Al Kaabi, to enhance cooperation in agricultural investment. The meeting, which included Saad Moussa, Supervisor of Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine and Foreign Agricultural Relations, aligns with directives to create an attractive investment climate as part of the Egyptian-UAE strategic partnership.

Farouk praised UAE investments in various sectors, especially agriculture, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. He highlighted investment opportunities in agricultural manufacturing to create jobs and promote local technology.

Farouk emphasized the importance of expertise exchange, increasing agricultural goods trade, and collaborating on dual-purpose breeds for meat and milk production. Ambassador Al Kaabi expressed the UAE’s desire to expand investments in Egypt, particularly in food security, within the quadrilateral strategy involving Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Iraq.

Al Kaabi mentioned potential cooperation in livestock, poultry, fish processing, and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. Farouk noted Egypt’s leadership in date production and proposed collaboration to maximize export benefits, highlighting the world's largest palm farm in Toshka.

Both parties agreed to support Emirati businesses in agriculture and established a follow-up mechanism to address challenges and shared goals.
