SAMA Reports 5.5% Growth in Reserve Assets, Reaching SR1.754 Trillion by End of Q2 2024

KSA, 16 August, 2024 :  The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) reported a 5.5% annual growth in reserve assets, reaching SR1.754 trillion by the end of Q2 2024, up by SR92.05 billion compared to the same period in 2023 when it stood at SR1.662 trillion.

SAMA’s June statistical bulletin showed that reserve assets reached their highest level by the end of June 2024. The assets grew 2.7% quarterly, increasing by SR46.72 billion from SR1.707 trillion in Q1 2024. On a monthly basis, reserve assets rose by 0.1%, adding SR1.15 billion.

Since the start of 2024, reserve assets have grown 6.6%, or SR108 billion, from SR1.646 trillion in January.

The assets include five components: investments in foreign securities (SR1.015 trillion, 58% of the total), foreign currency and deposits abroad (SR646.29 billion, 37%), special drawing rights (SR77.24 billion), reserve position in the IMF (SR13.33 billion), and monetary gold (SR1.62 billion).
