Oman, 13 September, 2024 : The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), attended the 83rd meeting of the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee in Doha, Qatar. The Omani delegation was led by Tahir Salim Al Amri, CBO Executive President.
The meeting covered various topics including the GCC banking system, payment systems, and financial technologies. Discussions also focused on advancing joint Gulf initiatives to improve the banking system and streamline transactions for citizens and businesses.
Additionally, the committee reviewed progress on combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and cybersecurity. It also examined the Secretariat General’s report and developments regarding the agreement to link payment systems among GCC states.
