Oman, 21 October, 2024 : The 5th Duqm Forum, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, focused on investment opportunities in the blue economy, food security, logistics, tourism, and renewable energy sectors in Oman, with a particular emphasis on Al Wusta Governorate. The event was organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Al Wusta Branch) in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.
H.H. Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini Al Said, Assistant Secretary General of the Council of Ministers for Conferences, presided over the opening ceremony. During the event, Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, highlighted Oman's strategic location and its historical ties to the sea, which have bolstered trade and cultural connections globally. He also underscored the government's efforts in developing ports and logistics networks, making Oman a key link in the global transport network.
Sheikh Ahmed Musallam Al Kithiri, Governor of Al Wusta, revealed that Duqm Special Economic Zone has attracted over RO 6 billion in investments, with major renewable energy projects contributing $49 billion, including green hydrogen, solar, and wind energy initiatives.
The forum featured sessions on investment strategies in the blue economy, food security, logistics, tourism, and renewable energy, with international experts sharing insights into innovations and global experiences in these fields. The event underscored Oman’s commitment to enhancing investment and sustainable growth, aligning with the country’s Vision 2040 goals.
