Qatar, 4 November, 2024 : Qatar and Vietnam are expanding their strong diplomatic ties, marked by 30 years of collaboration in areas including trade, investment, energy, and education. Diplomatic relations were established in 1993, and since then, regular high-level visits and agreements have strengthened cooperation.
Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is currently visiting Doha to meet with Qatar's Amir, H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Discussions aim to enhance bilateral relations in key sectors like trade, agriculture, and energy, along with addressing shared international interests. This follows recent interactions, including a meeting at the 2023 GCC-ASEAN Summit in Riyadh.
Economic ties have grown significantly, with Vietnam’s imports from Qatar largely consisting of liquefied gas and chemicals, while its exports to Qatar include seafood, electronics, and agricultural goods. In 2022, trade between the two nations rose by 33%, reaching over QR 2 billion. Both countries are keen on furthering private sector partnerships and exploring new investment opportunities.
