Qatar, 3 January, 2025 : Qatar’s merchandise trade surplus reached QR57.7 billion ($15.2 billion) in Q3 2024, down from QR61 billion ($16.1 billion) in the same period last year, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority.
Total exports for Q3 2024 amounted to QR87.8 billion, a year-on-year decrease of QR2 billion due to lower exports of mineral fuels and manufactured articles. However, exports rose by QR2.8 billion (3.3%) compared to Q2 2024, driven by higher shipments of chemicals (24.5%), machinery (53.3%), and manufactured goods (17.1%).
Imports increased to QR30.1 billion, up QR1.2 billion (4.1%) year-on-year, with growth in machinery, chemicals, and food products.
Asia remained Qatar’s top trading partner, receiving 75.9% of exports and supplying 39.7% of imports. The GCC followed with 11.6% of exports and 11.3% of imports, while the European Union accounted for 7.7% and 26.0%, respectively.
