Oman, 14 January, 2025 : In 2024, Oman made significant progress in various global competitiveness indices, reflecting the success of its transformation strategies in economic growth, digital development, sustainability, and governance.
Oman made a remarkable leap in the Environmental Performance Index, advancing 95 places to rank 54th globally. The country's rise in the Economic Freedom Index (39 places to 56th) and the UN’s e-Government Development Index (nine places to 41st) further underscores its commitment to governance, transparency, and digital transformation.
Oman also showed notable progress in digital development, ranking 50th in the Network Readiness Index, up four places, and strengthening its cybersecurity efforts with a score of 97.02 in the Global Cybersecurity Index. Additionally, the country rose five spots to 45th in the Artificial Intelligence Readiness Index.
These achievements are driven by initiatives like the National Programme for Digital Economy, Government Digital Transformation Programme, and the National Artificial Intelligence Programme, alongside ongoing legislative and regulatory reforms. Oman is also preparing to join the World Bank’s Business Readiness Index in 2025.
H.E. Dr. Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, emphasized that these advancements align with Oman Vision 2040’s ambitious goals for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
