Qatar to Boost Private Sector Involvement in Economic Development

Qatar, 26 March, 2025 : Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, revealed plans to boost the private sector’s involvement in the nation’s development. Speaking at the National Development Forum, he emphasized that the government is working with various stakeholders to identify areas where the private sector can contribute more effectively.

The Prime Minister shared that a comprehensive review of government agencies is underway to identify sectors where the private sector can step in and operate more efficiently. He highlighted that the private sector has the potential to create opportunities, boost the economy, and enhance service delivery.

The forum also discussed upcoming infrastructure projects, with Qatar's Ministry of Municipality planning a QR 81 billion investment in infrastructure projects over the next two years. New initiatives, such as the development of citizens' plots of land in collaboration with Ashghal, will provide opportunities for Qatari developers and investors.

The Minister of Municipality, H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, added that strategies focusing on public-private cooperation aim to enhance financial and operational efficiency. Several large-scale projects, including the 'Land of Legends' tourism destination and a safari zoo project, will be executed by the private sector.

The Prime Minister stressed that Qatar's National Vision 2030 and its leadership's clear direction have enabled the country to make significant progress. He reiterated that continued collaboration between the government, citizens, and the private sector is key to achieving national goals.
