Qatar, 16 April, 2025 : Qatar has pledged $7.5 billion in direct investments in Egypt, as part of a broader commitment to deepen bilateral ties. The announcement was made during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s official visit to Doha on April 13–14, where he met with the Amir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The high-level discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, reinforcing economic partnerships, and opening new avenues for integration. Both sides reaffirmed their political will to boost investment and economic exchange in support of sustainable development.
The two leaders also addressed pressing regional issues. They reiterated their firm support for the Palestinian cause, calling for an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. They backed efforts for Palestinian reconciliation and emphasized the urgent need for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, delivery of humanitarian aid, and reconstruction of the Strip. Egypt expressed its readiness to host an international conference to coordinate reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
On Sudan, both countries expressed grave concern over the ongoing conflict and called for an immediate halt to military operations, backing a return to inclusive national dialogue. They also voiced support for peaceful regional negotiations, including indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran, and praised Oman's diplomatic efforts in easing tensions.
In a show of cultural cooperation, Qatar announced its support for Egypt’s nomination of Dr. Khaled El Enany for the post of UNESCO Director-General, highlighting his academic and cultural credentials.
Both nations affirmed satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations and pledged to build on these gains to ensure continued cooperation and regional stability.
