UAE, 2 May, 2025 : The UAE has waived the Dh10,000 penalty for late corporate tax registration, offering major relief to small businesses and freelancers. Those already fined will be eligible for refunds.
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) is expected to clarify the refund process soon. Experts say penalties could be reversed automatically or adjusted against future tax liabilities.
Businesses are advised to update their bank details on the Emaratax portal. “The FTA may require an application and review each case before issuing refunds,” said Mushtaq Khatri, CEO of mkACE.
To qualify for the waiver, businesses must file their tax return within seven months of their first tax period’s end.
