UAE, 13 February, 2024 : UAE and Bahrain lead the GCC in the 2024 Global Economic Diversification Index (EDI), with notable tech investments and trade reforms post-pandemic.
UAE scored 95.7, Bahrain 93.7, Saudi Arabia accelerated to 90.5, and Oman to 87.7 in 2022. MENA's representation in the bottom 20 ranks decreased to 10% in 2022 from 25% in 2000, with an overall EDI increase to 98.4. Growth in MENA, particularly in digital services, remains a challenge.
The US, China, and Germany maintained their top diversified economy positions, with Western Europe dominating the top 20. High-income nations dominate the top 30, with inclusions from upper-middle-income countries like China and India.
