Oman, 20 October, 2025 : The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) has officially kicked off the rollout of its e-Invoicing initiative, “Fawtara,” marking a major step toward digital tax transformation in the Sultanate.
In the first phase, the OTA has selected 100 companies based on business size, transaction volume, technical readiness, tax compliance, and geographic representation. These businesses have been asked to complete the E-Invoicing Readiness Survey by 12 October 2025.
According to the OTA’s timeline:
-
Nov 2025: E-Invoicing specifications to be published
-
Dec 2025: Announcement of Service Provider Standards and workshops
-
Feb 2026: Launch of Developer/Test Portal
-
May 2026: Accreditation of E-Invoicing Service Providers
-
Aug 2026: Go-live for the first phase
-
Aug 2028: Completion of all phases
Oman’s e-Invoicing framework adopts a Five-Corner Model, using Decentralized Continuous Transaction Controls Exchange (DCTCE) where certified service providers validate, transmit, and share invoice data with the OTA.
The OTA’s readiness survey also seeks industry feedback on expected challenges
