Oman, 21 February, 2024 : In 2022, Oman experienced a substantial increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) totaling OMR27.13 billion, equivalent to 4.8% of its GDP and representing 75.9% of total foreign investment.
The oil and gas sector attracted the most significant share of FDI, amounting to OMR15.32 billion, followed by financial brokerage, converting industries, and transportation sectors.
The United Kingdom emerged as the leading source of FDI, contributing OMR9.62 billion, followed by the United States and China. Meanwhile, Omani investments abroad reached OMR5.38 billion, with the UAE and Saudi Arabia being the primary destinations.
Other significant investment recipients included the UK, Kuwait, Egypt, India, and Bahrain, reflecting Oman's active participation in global investment opportunities.
