KSA, 01 April, 2024 : Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has outlined the criteria for selecting targeted taxpayers in the tenth wave of implementing the "Integration Phase" of E-invoicing. This wave includes taxpayers whose VAT-subject revenues exceeded 25 million Saudi Riyals in 2022 or 2023. ZATCA will notify these taxpayers to integrate their e-invoicing solutions with the FATOORA Platform by October 1, 2024.
Phase Two (Integration Phase) of E-invoicing, as explained by ZATCA, imposes additional requirements compared to Phase One (Generation Phase). These include integrating e-invoicing solutions with ZATCA's platform, issuing e-invoices based on a specific format, and incorporating additional fields in the invoice. The integration will occur gradually in waves, with ZATCA providing direct notification to affected parties at least six months prior to their Integration Date.
The launch of Phase Two reflects Saudi Arabia's economic development and digital transformation efforts, building on the success of Phase One. Phase One, initiated on December 4, 2021, mandated taxpayers to cease generating handwritten or computer-generated invoices through text editing software. Instead, they were required to adopt a technical solution for E-invoicing, ensuring compliance with specified requirements such as generating and storing e-invoices with QR codes.
