UAE and India Advance Consular Cooperation in 5th Joint Committee Meeting

UAE, 16 May, 2024 : The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India convened their fifth joint consular committee session in New Delhi to bolster collaboration in consular services for their citizens. Chaired by H.E. Khalid Abdulla Belhoul, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Muktesh Pardeshi, Secretary in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the meeting addressed various consular matters and strategies for enhanced cooperation.

H.E. Belhoul lauded the longstanding ties between the two nations and commended India's efforts in fostering bilateral relations under the comprehensive strategic partnership since 2017. Highlighting the UAE and India's successful model of strategic relations, he emphasized the importance of further cooperation to achieve mutual development goals and explore opportunities for future collaboration in the consular domain.

Expressing appreciation for the positive developments, H.E. Belhoul conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and reiterated the UAE's commitment to strengthening relations with India in line with the vision of their leadership.

The UAE-India relationship has witnessed significant growth, particularly since the elevation to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in May 2022 has further solidified trade ties, with both sides aiming for a bilateral trade volume of up to $100 billion by 2030.
