Ministry of Industry and Commerce Enhances Consumer Protection with New Service Level Agreements

Bahrain, 5 July, 2024 : The Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced the signing of three service level agreements with commercial entities in Bahrain to enhance the handling of consumer complaints.

Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and Foreign Trade, confirmed that these agreements are part of the Directorate’s operational and development plan. This initiative follows last year's memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Lulu Hypermarket, Talabat, and Extra. This year, the agreements have expanded to include Ramez, Jahez, and JustClean Internet Services.

The Assistant Undersecretary emphasized that the Consumer Protection Directorate aims to improve service quality and efficiency for consumers by leveraging modern technologies and partnerships with the commercial sector. The agreements outline terms and conditions for providing high-quality services in line with Law No. (35) of 2012 on consumer protection and its executive regulations.

This step aims to ensure mutual agreement between the government and commercial sectors to provide exceptional services, promptly resolve consumer complaints, and define the responsibilities of both parties. The Assistant Undersecretary expressed his appreciation for the continued cooperation of the commercial entities in addressing consumer complaints.
