Dubai Chamber of Commerce Gains Over 34,000 New Members in H1 2024

UAE, 24 July, 2024 :  Dubai Chamber of Commerce announced that 34,075 new companies joined in H1 2024, marking a 5% year-over-year (YoY) growth. This highlights Dubai's dynamic business environment and competitiveness in attracting foreign direct investment.

Members' exports and re-exports totaled AED 145.9 billion, a YoY growth of 6.7%. The Chamber issued 372,720 certificates of origin, a 5.2% increase, and processed 2,433 ATA Carnets valued at AED 1.6 billion.

Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chambers, credited the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for these achievements. The Chamber's initiatives aim to enhance Dubai's business environment, strengthen public-private partnerships, attract foreign investments, and support the international expansion of Dubai-based companies.

In H1 2024, Dubai Chamber reviewed 122 laws and draft laws, with a 54.9% adoption rate for recommendations. The Chamber held 100 meetings with Business Groups and Councils and facilitated 29 meetings with government entities. Six new Business Councils were established, representing Costa Rica, Greece, Poland, Mexico, Colombia, and Kazakhstan.

The Chamber hosted two quarterly roundtable meetings and organized 20 legal events attended by 1,500 participants. It received 79 mediation cases, a 5.3% YoY increase.

The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses organized two events as part of the 'Governance Series,' focusing on governance and women's roles in family business sustainability. It also conducted training for the Next-Gen Family Businesses Programme and concluded the first cycle of the Dubai Family Business Management Programme with 31 participants.

The Centre issued two toolkits on family business governance and launched an online library with 2,000 educational resources.
