FTA Urges June Licence Holders to Register for Corporate Tax by August 31

UAE, 6 August, 2024 : The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has called on Resident Juridical Persons with licences issued in June, regardless of the year, to register for Corporate Tax by August 31, 2024. This directive follows Federal Tax Authority Decision No. 3 of 2024, aligning with Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses.

The FTA stressed the importance of meeting registration deadlines to avoid administrative penalties. These deadlines have been communicated through various media and direct outreach to registered company owners in the UAE.

The FTA's Public Clarification states that Resident Juridical Persons established before March 1, 2024, must register based on their licence issuance month. Even expired licences must be registered based on the original issuance date, and those with multiple licences should use the earliest issuance date.

Taxable persons must use the “EmaraTax” digital platform for registration, available 24/7. The platform allows easy creation of user profiles and tax registration numbers via email and phone. Accredited tax agents and government service centers also provide direct services.

Accurate information and updated supporting documents, such as commercial licences, Emirates ID cards, and proof of authorisation, are essential for registration. The FTA website offers a comprehensive video guide on the “EmaraTax” platform, designed to simplify registration, returns submission, and tax payments.
