FTA Urges July License Holders to Register for Corporate Tax by September Deadline

UAE, 4 September, 2024 : The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has called on Resident Juridical Persons with licenses issued in July, regardless of the issuance year, to register for Corporate Tax by 30 September 2024 to avoid penalties.

The FTA highlighted the importance of adhering to the timelines set in FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024, which outlines deadlines for Corporate Tax registration under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022. Failure to comply will result in administrative penalties, as stipulated in Cabinet Decision No. 75 of 2023.

The FTA emphasized that the registration requirement applies to both Juridical and Natural Persons, whether Resident or Non-Resident. Juridical Persons established before 1 March 2024 must register based on the month their license was issued, even if the license has since expired. For those holding multiple licenses, the earliest issuance date determines the deadline.

Corporate Tax registration is available 24/7 through the EmaraTax platform, which offers a streamlined four-step process that takes about 30 minutes to complete. The platform also allows for easy access for those already registered for VAT or Excise Tax.

The FTA urged those who have not yet registered to create an account on EmaraTax and complete the registration process. Taxable Persons can also register via authorized Tax Agents or at government service centers across the UAE. Once registered, applicants will receive a Tax Registration Number via email.

The FTA reiterated the importance of reviewing the Corporate Tax Law and related guidelines, all of which are available on the FTA’s official website: tax.gov.ae
