Bahrain, 17 September, 2024 : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) conducted 157 inspection visits across Bahrain’s local markets in August 2024, aiming to enhance business compliance and enforce VAT and Excise regulations, including the Digital Stamps Scheme.
The inspections led to the identification of 37 VAT violations, including issues with VAT invoice issuance, pricing transparency, and VAT certificate display. Administrative fines were imposed for these infractions.
The NBR stressed the importance of business and consumer cooperation in achieving compliance and encouraged reporting of any VAT or Excise law violations. Reports can be made via the NBR call center at 80008001, the National Suggestions & Complaints System (Tawasul), or by email at vat@nbr.gov.bh and ds@nbr.gov.bh for related queries.
