Bahrain, 20 October, 2025 : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) announced that it conducted 260 market inspections across Bahrain during the third quarter of 2025, resulting in 51 violations of VAT and Excise regulations.
According to the NBR, 41 VAT violations were recorded—mainly for failing to issue VAT invoices correctly, not displaying prices inclusive of VAT, and not showing VAT certificates at business premises.
In addition, 10 Excise violations were identified, involving the sale or possession of excise goods without paying dues or without valid digital stamps.
The NBR confirmed that administrative fines have been imposed and legal actions initiated in cases of suspected VAT and Excise evasion, which may carry penalties of up to five years’ imprisonment and fines up to three times the evaded amount.
Businesses are urged to comply fully with VAT and Excise laws, and consumers can report violations via the NBR Call Center (80008001) or through the Tawasul platform.
