Qatar, 22 October, 2024 : German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will host Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for discussions aimed at deepening economic and diplomatic relations. The meeting will take place at Meseberg Castle, just north of Berlin, focusing on enhancing bilateral ties in energy, trade, and regional security.
Qatar is also a significant investor in the German economy, with potential investments, including a stake in Berlin's main refinery, Schwedt, currently under discussion.
Accompanying the emir will be Qatari Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi and Mansoor Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, head of the Qatar Investment Authority, which has invested in major German companies such as Deutsche Bank and Volkswagen.
