Bahrain, 13 December, 2024 : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) conducted 160 inspection visits across Bahrain’s local markets in November 2024. The inspections aimed to ensure compliance with VAT and Excise regulations, including the Digital Stamps Scheme, while promoting consumer protection and combating tax evasion.
The NBR confirmed 33 VAT violations during these visits, resulting in administrative fines under the law. Common violations included failure to issue VAT-compliant invoices, display prices inclusive of VAT, and visibly present a VAT certificate.
Businesses and consumers are encouraged to cooperate with the NBR’s efforts to uphold compliance. The NBR urges reporting of violations through the 24/7 call center or via the Tawasul platform. More details can be found on the NBR website
