UAE, 29 February, 2024 : UK seeks to strengthen AI collaboration with the UAE, says Michelle Donelan, UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology, during her visit to the Emirates. The focus is on deepening partnerships and sharing knowledge in AI infrastructure and expertise.
In 2023, the UK and UAE, among others, endorsed proposals to mitigate AI-related harms while harnessing its potential. Donelan emphasizes AI's role in complementing jobs, citing examples like AI-assisted surgeries.
Acknowledging the UAE's leadership in AI discussions, Donelan stresses the importance of global collaboration in regulating AI development. She visited the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the UAE's early dedication to AI education.
During her visit, Donelan will meet with Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, to exchange insights and plot a way forward on AI development and regulation.
