Sharjah, 11 March, 2024 : Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), and Alexi Fonseka Gunasekera, Consul-General-designate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, met to discuss economic cooperation and investment partnerships between their nations. The meeting, held at the SCCI headquarters, included Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, SCCI's Director-General, and Fatima Khalifa Al Mokarrab, Director of the SCCI's International Relations Department. They explored avenues to incentivize businesses across sectors and enhance information exchange on investment opportunities.
Both parties highlighted the importance of private sector participation in trade exhibitions and discussed cooperation prospects between Sharjah and Sri Lanka's business communities. Strategies to facilitate reciprocal visits of trade delegations were also considered, aiming to strengthen mutual understanding and collaboration. The discussions aimed to bolster economic ties and create an enabling environment for investment, reflecting the shared commitment of both nations to promote trade and prosperity.
