Bahrain, 24 October, 2024 : The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) carried out 193 inspection visits across various governates in Bahrain during September 2024. These inspections aimed to ensure compliance with VAT and Excise regulations, including the Digital Stamps Scheme, and to uphold consumer rights by combating tax evasion.
The NBR reported 24 VAT violations, resulting in administrative fines. Common violations included the failure to issue proper VAT invoices, display prices inclusive of VAT, and show VAT certificates visibly.
The NBR stressed that cooperation from both businesses and consumers is crucial for achieving high compliance standards. The public is encouraged to report any violations by contacting the NBR call center or using the Tawasul system. More information is available on the NBR website.
